Essential Kerala Travel Tips

Before You Travel

✓ Carry your original valid photo ID, as it is required for hotel and resort check-in.

✓ Pack clothing suitable for the season and the destinations you plan to visit.

✓ Keep photocopies or digital copies of your important documents.

✓ Carry any personal medications you may require during your trip.

During Your Trip

✓ Stay hydrated. Carry a bottle of purified drinking water during your journey and sightseeing.

✓ Carry an umbrella or a lightweight raincoat during the monsoon season.

✓ Wear comfortable walking shoes for sightseeing.

✓ Use sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat during hot and sunny weather.

Hill Stations (Munnar & Thekkady)

✓ Carry light woollen clothing, as the temperature can be cool, especially during the monsoon and in the evenings.

✓ Wear closed-toe shoes if you plan to trek or walk on wet grass or forest trails.

✓ Be aware of leeches during the monsoon. Wearing closed shoes and full-length trousers can help protect you.

Beaches

✓ Avoid carrying valuables to the beach whenever possible.

✓ Never leave your belongings unattended or close to the shoreline, as strong waves may wash them away.

✓ Swim only in designated areas and follow the instructions of lifeguards.

✓ Be cautious of strong currents and high waves.

Wildlife Sanctuaries

✓ Do not feed or disturb wild animals.

✓ Follow the instructions of your guide and forest officials at all times.

✓ Keep noise to a minimum to avoid disturbing wildlife.

Temples

✓ Follow the prescribed dress code.

✓ Remove your footwear where required.

✓ Respect local customs and photography restrictions.

Health & Safety

✓ Drink bottled or purified water.

✓ Use mosquito repellent, especially during the evenings.

✓ Carry a small first-aid kit and any personal medications you may need.

Food & Travel Comfort

✓ Choose restaurants that serve freshly prepared meals. Our experienced drivers know reliable restaurants and can recommend good places to stop for breakfast, lunch, tea, or dinner during your journey.

✓ If you are prone to motion sickness, carrying a lemon or a few cardamom pods may help relieve nausea during winding hill-road journeys, especially on the way to Munnar or Thekkady. If needed, our driver will be happy to help you obtain them during the trip.

During Your Journey

✓ Keep your valuables with you and avoid leaving them unattended in the vehicle or at tourist attractions.

✓ Always follow the driver’s safety instructions.
